The orchestra’s razor-sharp musicians set the scene Glinka’s “Ruslan and Ludmilla” overture, ahead of a stunning performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 1 by Romanian-born pianist Alexandra Dariescu, on her Halle debut. This talented 28 year old gave an explosive, expressive and awesome performance, which earned tumultuous applause from the awestruck audience.

Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1

Many might contend that this is the most romantic Piano Concerto ever composed. Whilst such an argument may rage on without end, few could fail to acknowledge the passion and grace that Alexandra brings to the composition in this performance!

No wonder then that the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra chose Alexandra as the soloist for their most recent recording of the Concerto which is released on Signum Records in the summer of 2015 with Daryl Ang conducting.
