Deadwood Strings

Deadwood Strings boasts some of the most versatile string players you can find hiding in London. Lead violinist Kerenza Peacock has just released a solo CD with the London Symphony Orchestra, which was picked as Classic FM’s CD of the Week. But she also plays and records with Adele, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, and is a member of Anglo-American bluegrass band the Coal Porters. Kerenza was leader of the Pavao String Quartet for 15 years.

In fact, many of the Deadwood players, including violists Felix Tanner and Alex Gale, have been part of award-winning chamber groups, as well as performing with orchestras ranging from the Royal Philharmonic to John Wilson’s electrifying film orchestra. Members such as bassist Ben Russell and cellist Daisy Vatalaro can often be found cluttering up the stages of the Royal Albert Hall, Festival Hall and the Wigmore, then winging their way across the globe with artists from Andrea Bocelli to Beyoncé. Deadwood musicians like Libby Croad and Leanne Wren have had fun recording for TV programmes including The X Factor, The Brit Awards and Downton Abbey, and are equally at home recording Hollywood film soundtracks in Abbey Road Studios.
